Tom Felton is Transphobic

Please keep in mind if you are cisgender and not a member of the trans community, you are not personally harmed by transphobia and therefore don't get to argue with trans people (like myself) on trans issues. If you not here to listen to what I have to say and are only hear to disagree and spread hate, please leave.

The 'My Two Pennies' Video:
This was Felton's very bad attempt of an excuse. In the video, he did not once apologize for his actions or call out JK Rowling for the hateful things she has said. Doing that was too hard for him and unnacceptable.
The video also seemed to center around food and animals (like his dog) which was weird as this was an important issue and not some light hearted joke.
He also victimized himself by showing baby photos of himself for a slide show.
It was pathetic, scripted attempt at an apology. If anything, he made thing worse.

The Liked Tweet:
As many people know, Felton liked an offensive tweet from JK Rowling, a known transphobe and TERF (trans exclusionary radical feminist). It could have been a mistake, but he rarely likes tweets and only unliked the tweet once people were getting angry with him. No apology was every issued.
Some people like to point out that the tweet does not doesn't directly mention transgender people- it talks about lesbians. However, the conext behind the tweet has more to do with trans people than lesbians. The original tweet was shaming Joanne for her previous, very transphobic, tweets. Joanne responded with this in defence of her transphobia.
So, the tweet is transphobic, and as Tom has offered no apology, he agrees with her.

accessibility:
A tweet from 'Scott Brain' reads "Please talk to some queer people. Please. A retweet from JKR reads 'One of my best mates just called me. Self-described butch lesbian. It was hard to tell, because she was shouting quite loudly, but I could just make out 'FUCKING YES!"
These tweets are in Tom Feltons's 'likes' on twitter.

Calling her a genius:
In the recent 19 years later video, Tom Felton called JKR a genius. Many people say that he was calling her writing a genius. However, when you watch the video, he is addressing JKR and not her work, but either way it is wrong. The Harry Potter series is full of racsim, anti semitism, misogyny, fat shaming, and even homophobia. The books are old and problematic, and looking over that is not okay and shows his privilege. It is likely that Tom Felton was aware of this and the controversy around Rowling.

He is very privileged:
Tom Felton is an extremely privileged person. He is white, straight (if he is queer, not openly), cisgender, male, able bodied, and so many other things. He should use his big platform to help the people who need it. The absence of help towards many minorities, including trans people, shows that he probably does not care.

This video (featured below):
In the video I have tagged below, Felton says that he has no reaction to JKR, the woman who built up his fame, being transphobic. He should have a reaction. He should be disgusted.
He also claims that he didn't know that was a thing, but if he liked a transphobic tweet, and then unliked it after receiving hate, I very much doubt that he was unaware of the situation.

'He said trans and lesbian rights':
Yes. One cameo does feature Felton saying those words. However, it is important to note that he was paid around $500 to say those words. In the video, he claims that 'I will support you and the community whenever I can.' Felton has made no effort to do so.
Another thing to note is that that video was a great example of performative activism. For those of you who don't know what that is, performative activism is where you stand up for a community purely because you don't want to get in trouble for not doing so. Performative activism does not help the intended community whatsoever.

'He doesn't need to speak against JKR':
Many of Felton's supporters also have added this sentence into their arguments. As a trans person, I disagree. Tom Felton's entire career was build up against JKR and unless he speaks against her, he supports her in everything she does, including her transphobia.

'He can't because his mental health is poor':
Many of Felton's supporters like to mention that he has struggled with mental health issues in his past. This however does NOT stop him from being able to speak up for an oppressed community like the trans one. I have seen many people with issues similar to his speak up for communities they are not a part of.
If you stay silent in a situation you are the oppressor. Considering some of the Hermione stunt doubles said that JKR was wrong, Felton could have too.

'But JKR built up his career so of course he supports her:'
Yet another faulty excuse. Although Felton's fame may have stemmed from Rowling, there is not reason he can't distance himself from her. If he was transgender, he would be forced to distance himself from her due to her hatred of him. But he is cis, and therefore saying by her side is a direct act of cisgender privilage.

'He wore a pride pin:'
There is an image of Felton wearing a rainbow coloured pin, however that pin was not a pride pin, it supported the NHS, which is the healthcare service in the UK. The NHS also uses the rainbow flag, and it is different to an LGBTQIA+ one.
There are rumors of Felton also wearing a pride bracelet, where the only way to own one was to donate to an LGBTQ charity. The images are blurry, so I can't tell if he's actually wearing one. Even so, if he is actually wearing it, he still has yet to speak on it and tell his followers to purchase one as well.

Other things:
Setting his transphobia aside, Felton is not a good person. He can being seen bodyshaming his ex in a video (I think it's on tiktok), where he sings the words "A thousand times thinner than my ex Malissa.'
Continuing off his 'music,' he also has a following of mostly minors, which he definitely knows. In another instagram live song, he can be seen singing about someone in an inappropriate way.
In 2016, he posted a tweet saying that "if you're not cheese or wine age isn't a factor." Even if the intent was not to come of creepily, it definitely does and the year old tweet has yet to be removed.

Emma Watson:
Another thing I would like to point out are his creepy actions towards Emma Watson, the actor who portrayed Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise. Emma is happily engaged, and Felton is single as far as I can tell. His fans like to ship him and Emma (if you do that, stop it because shipping real people is weird and you should never do it). He liked a comment of a fan telling him to 'marry Emma.' Watson has not said anything about this, but Felton should know what he is doing and know that it is weird. He is a grown man and should know better.

To his supporters:
If you have read everything I have written on here and still decide to support this man, please take any pronouns out of your bios, and don't call yourself a transgender ally because by supporting him you obviously do not care about us.
